This Pottery comes form the high
plateau country of the west, where the desert and the mountains meet.
The Native American artists, who sign each piece, combine their natural
artistic talents with the inspiration of their cultural and the breathtaking
beauty of their homeland.

- MIXING
Clays form New York, California, Tennessee and Texas are used to form
high quality liquid casting slip
- CASTING
Slip is pumped into molds, which dry the clay form, the outside in. When
the Proper thickness is reached the excess slip is poured out and recycled.
- CLEANING
After drying 24 hours each piece has the seams removed and is smoothed
with sponge before painting,
- PAINTING
All pieces are painted or etched by Navajo or Ute artists, who sign each
piece. Some artists have been instrumental in creating new pottery lines.
Artists are free to use individual expression within the limits
of the pottery line they are painting.
- FIRING
Pieces are fired in four large gas kilns. It takes 3 to 5 hours to reach and
hold 2000 degrees Fahreheit, then several hours again to cool off.
Internally glazed pieces will hold water, however not all pieces are glazed.
Exterior surface may be dusted and cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not use strong
abrasives or cleaners.
